Calle Sante Fe – Chilean Film

March 22, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Having watched “a promise to the dead” it seem only right to come back to the ICA cinema to watch “Calle Sante Fe”. In keepin with the International Human Rights Film Festival. Calle Sante Fe is also a Chilean film from the around the same time as Ariel Dorfman’s “a promise to the dead”. Although both are contrasting films both are about the opression impossed on Chilean’s under the Augusto Pinochet regime.

The Calle Sante Fe revovles around a gun battle in Calle Sante Fe between the Pinoceht Military Regime and a handful of rebels, it’s then a look into the past, of what could have been changed, could things have been different the views of the survivors and the opinions of the eventual children as well as the struggles they all still have from that fateful day.

An interesting film of a moment which grabbed international attention at the time.

Calle Sante Fe is apprently availble on dvd some where on french internet. I am yet able to find it.

Banksy on the corner of Essex Rd.

March 16, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Hey People it’s me again !!!

For all of You that missed last revelation of Banky’s graffiti, the children saluting a tesco carry bag, I wanted to let you know where it actually is. Just across the road from that beauty full “old mecca bingo” building which in itself is a lovely piece of architecture. Ever since I heard of Banksy ages ago I always wanted to know more (probably just like all of his admires). His art is very clear and symbolic, lately he is really smashing it. Who ever came up with his PR campaign should definitely give himself a tap on the back. So since I would like to think that I know a bit about him I guess I’ll make it in to a little series. hopefully someone will find it interesting.

A Promise to the Dead – Ariel Dorfman – Chilean Film

March 15, 2008 · 1 Comment

Talking about unprepared, this one just shook my emotions all over. London premiere of ” A Promise to the Dead” was a amazing journey through life of internationally recognized writer and human rights activist Ariel Dorfman. Never in my Life did I see a whole cinema filled with tearful people. I don’t really want to spoil the film for You, but all You need to know is, if You want to see Chile through the eyes of an exile who tell s You His remarkable story without any bitterness, this is the one You want to watch!!!

Extremely powerful piece of cinematography.
